Having spent a month traveling in Israel , I arrived in Copenhagen uncertain as to what my time here would be like. While the expectations for your experience during exchange are high, to actually arrive and be immersed in your new home is nothing I ever could of imagined. (more…)

Going on exchange has always seemed like an exciting, life-changing adventure. From listening to the experiences of my friends, I knew that my semester in the Netherlands would be incredible. However, the day before flying out of Sydney the doubts began to creep in – would I make friends? Would I be disappointed by the hype of exchange? Would I get too homesick? Now that I am here and settled in Tilburg, it’s safe to say that my doubts have completely vanished. (more…)

Leaving my family at the airport seems almost a distant memory after just two weeks in Toronto. Traveling to a foreign city can be daunting, and I left feeling completely overwhelmed with emotions, scared, nervous, extremely excited and many, many more. Having never traveled alone before, and the fact that I did not have one single friend or family member on the content of North America, I was particularly worried about meeting people, feeling lonely and not having anyone to share experiences with, but already, after such a short time in the country, it’s hard to imagine this will be much of a problem.

Travelling alone to a new city for the first time can be daunting, especially when you don’t know the language and everything is foreign. Fortunately, Seoul happens to be a very safe, tourist friendly place so I settled in quite easily. And that brief moment of fear I had as I landed was quickly replaced by the wonderment of this bright, bustling city. (more…)

I didn’t know what to expect. You hear about it from Hollywood, people tell stories about it, but you just don’t know it until you’ve experienced it. Texas, the home of BBQ, Chuck Norris, and Cowboys. As well as, Texas, the home of Beyoncé, great Mexican food and the weirdest place in America, Austin. (more…)

Madrid is a very vibrant city brimming with life, art and great food! I have been quick to take to the laid back nature of the Spaniards. My first two wonderful weeks in Madrid have consisted of siesta-infused days and strolls through lively warm summer nights that somewhat by their own volition end up in tapas bars. It is perhaps why it is only just now on the last little bit of the last weekend before classes starts that I have found and moved into my apartment. (more…)

So just over a year ago, my two friends and I made the life-changing decision to go on exchange. That was the easy part. The tough part was picking a place. You see, we didn’t want a place that was too similar to home because why even bother, just stay home. We thought Asia, but we’re Asian so we’ve all been there enough to call it a second home. We moved our fingers further west on the map and settled on Europe. (more…)

On the eve of my flight to Wuhan in China I ponder all manner of the obscure and amazing experiences I am about to partake in.
Will I be run over by a 70 year old woman on an electric motor bike? Will I be tricked into buying pigeon instead of Chicken? Will I be the guest of honour at a talk on hydro electrics? (more…)

Hej hej!
Exactly 2 weeks ago, I touched down in Europe for the first time! For someone who’s only travelled around Asia, being on the other side of the world is definitely an exciting and tiring experience! (Including that 30+ hour travel time)
Nevertheless, I had reached the land of IKEA! (more…)
