They say that a month into exchange the excitement of the new things around you wears off a little bit and you begin to miss home. But I can say at this point, I am still delighted to be here, with new opportunities and experiences knocking at the door constantly! Of course there are moments when you question yourself but the key is not to let those thoughts have significance! Exchange will be one of the most stimulating experiences in your life! (more…)

If there’s any advice I can give to a future exchange student, it’s to arrive in your new city early – at least 2 weeks before the semester starts I’d say. Particularly if you plan to sort out accommodation on arrival!

Hej! (pronounced hey!)
3 weeks ago I landed in Europe for the first time! Despite spending over 20 hours on 3 different flights, I made it to Sweden and eventually, Jönköping, which is a small town 3 hours from Stockholm. (more…)

To many Zurich is not an exchange destination that springs to the mind when thrown the task of choosing where to go. So far I can only say that is an honest shame. Zurich, a city with lakes as clear as the Maldives, streets built by Roman cobblestones and air freshened by the alps, is most certainly looking a fine choice of exchange. The city lives for the idea of perfection, aesthetically and intellectually. Four hundred year old buildings have been excellently maintained (nor will they ever be replaced by 50 story apartment blocks), whilst trains will not be a minute late. (more…)

Hey there! My name is Amy, and I’m on exchange at the City University of Hong Kong. What I’ll be covering in this blog post are my experiences of Hong Kong so far, and hopefully this information will give anybody who’s considering Hong Kong as an exchange student a push in the right direction 🙂 -

Although since 1997 Hong Kong became once again, a part of China, it still holds a very unique cultural identity. The main language used in Cantonese, rather than Mandarin used in the mainland, and the currency is Hong Kong dollars rather than Ren Min Bi; and best of all for an exchange student, English is widely used and understood. The integration of English throughout much of Hong Kong is why it is an excellent entry point into Asian culture for someone from the west. (more…)

So far it seems that Maastricht, my home for the next 5 months, is full of 4 things: churches, bicycles, students and beer. With 40-50 churches, endless varieties of Dutch, German and other European beers, 20,000 students and countless bikes this relatively small city of 100,000 people has a welcoming and friendly vibe. I never would have thought that the first time I would be living out of home would be so far from my family and friends, yet here I am writing this 16019km from home. I’m doing my exchange at HEC Montreal, Canada and have been here for a little over a month now. (more…)
