  • Delightful Delft

Setting down in the Netherlands after a 30 hour travel stint was a warm and welcome sight! Being rushed through Schilpol (more…)

  • So far impressed by the TU Delft Dutch treat

I’m going on into my third week of being here in on exchange at TU Deft in the Netherlands.

My first week was all about getting acclimatized to the new time zone (I lived in LA for a month prior to arriving here), getting the keys to my new student accommodation flat, grokking how to navigate the area from flat to the uni. It’s a 20 minute walk. I haven’t bought a bicycle yet but plan to do so next week. (more…)

  • Exploring Copenhagen

While I have only been in Copenhagen for two weeks, it doesn’t take long for this city to feel like home. I arrived here after travelling through Spain and Portugal, feeling slightly nervous but very keen to get started.

  • James – Aarhus School of Architecture, Denmark!

I flew into Tirstrup Airstrip (nearest to Aarhus), apparently no one visiting Aarhus does. I should have caught the train from Copenhagen – its much cheaper! Everything has gone very smoothly, the past student feedback surveys and seeking out those who were here before me have been amazing.

  • University of Nottingham, Ningbo, China – 1st Impressions

Two weeks I got on a plane from Sydney to a country where I couldn’t speak a word of the local tongue and didn’t know a single soul living here. The thought was daunting to say the least. Two weeks on I’m thanking myself for taking that dive into the deep end, loving every minute of such an underrated country. (more…)

  • Grüezi from Zürich, Switzerland!

I arrived in Zürich less than a week ago and I’m already smitten with the place. It’s truly amazing here – the city is vibrant, the surrounding landscapes are beautiful and the culture is endlessly intriguing. (more…)

  • Montreal reminds me of a slightly larger sized Melbourne. With its cool hipster streets, arts and comedy culture, I kind of feel like I’m home. Little cool eateries are scattered throughout the city, on every corner and in between. It wasn’t until I arrived here that I was informed that Montreal has the highest number of restaurants per Capita in Canada (2nd in North America only to New York). I soon realised there was a lot I didn’t know about this funky, eclectic, French-Canadian city. Here are some of the fun facts I’ve learned about Montreal in my past week of living here. (more…)

  • Lund, Sweden

After two and half months travelling in Europe and about 20 countries later, I arrived in Lund. If it weren’t for the 40000 or so students, Lund would resemble one big retirement village. But that is part of its charm, it’s got a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of green. There is a nice little city centre though and the many bike paths make it perfect to cruise around town. Buy a bike as early as possible! (more…)

  • TU Delft

It has only been three weeks since I arrived in Delft and in those three weeks I have learnt more than I initially thought. To be frank the first two days were rather grueling. I had spent a month prior to my exchange trip abroad, traveling with my friends and loved ones and then to arrive in Delft not knowing anyone and without a housemate was rather tough. (more…)

  • Santi Takes Segovia

Going on exchange to Spain has always been a fairytale dream of mine and it’s very surreal to finally be able to call Segovia my home. I have been preparing for this adventure all year, endlessly fantasising about the days where I can be “livin’ la vida loca!” And here they are…

I began my exchange journey mid-July, escaping Sydney’s winter blues and using it as an excellent excuse to pursue the delights of Europe’s summer before starting my semester abroad. The Mediterranean is not short on sweet swimming spots and nor is the continent short on the circuit of festivalés. Of course! This is where you would have found me during the weeks leading up to exchange. (more…)
