Dublin. A city with a bit of everything for everyone. I have spent an incredible 4 months exploring the good, the bad and the ugly of Dublin (and the rest of Ireland) while studying here at Dublin City University. I came to Ireland looking for the country out of ‘P.S. I Love You‘ and ‘Leap Year‘ and found it, and so much more. Doing global exchange with UTS has been a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I will always remember and wish that I could do over and over again! (more…)

Hello!
I am writing this from my last weeks in Milan, and mostly, I am writing this directly to the person who is doubting where they should go, and whether they should go on exchange.
You should go. (more…)

I still vividly remember the day I arrived at Uppsala Central Station. It was 3am,-25 degrees, everything was closed and the streets were paved in snow. As I looked around, the first thing that came to mind was “what have I gotten myself into?”. It is hard to believe that I now not only call this place home, but it is somewhere that I will forever hold dear in my heart. Writing this piece with 3 weeks remaining on exchange has allowed me to reflect on the wonderful time that I have had while in Uppsala, and appreciate everything this student town has to offer. I’m currently in my third month of Exchange in Copenhagen, and the sun has come out long enough up for me to get sunburnt. And then it left. Possibly forever. (more…)

I’ve lived in the city of Aarhus for about four months now and here are a handful of things I’ve noticed in my time here I never really heard about before I got here.

As a student in Amsterdam I have been lucky enough to experience the European student life, encompassing all the highs and lows of dorm rooms, country-hopping in almost the same time it takes to get to school in Sydney, and the vibrant student community filled with people from all across the globe. Arrival to the Madrid and first days of the university:
Arriving to Madrid was both stressful and exciting at the same time. It was stressful because I needed to find a place to stay and therefore it meant lot of room hunting through various websites which I found idealista.com best out of them. Scrolling through countless ads to find a clean, safe and also affordable and central place was not a very easy task. Finally, after couple of visits to the ones I picked, I found a nice room with the perfect location in a very traditional suburb called La Latina. (more…)

It is best to expect the worst in exchange; because in the end you will never be disappointed!
If you are reading this and any other blogs you know that doing an exchange is something you will do!
Paris is a magical city. There is something about the people that gets you. The city is full of character and something is always happening every day and night! Paris-Dauphine hosts monthly bar nights where you could mingle with the French and other exchange students.

Not only are classes are fun and enjoyable, so are making friends as there are classes in English and for exchange students.
These students come from all other the world and are in the same situation. There will be French bureaucracy which is unavoidable. However, it is typical of the French and every student bears the same experience (At least you could use that as an icebreaker!).

Paris is a great location for travelling to other places in Europe. It has three airports (which allows you to easily get anywhere in Europe). Bus trips to Belgium, England and other French cities are extremely cheap. Skyscanner and Comparabus are essential to find the best time and prices. One time I had bought a return bus ticket to Lyon for 13 euros and Lille for 2 euros!
Australians have a great reputation amongst Europeans; especially French people! They perceive Australia to be exotic country with plenty of beaches and wildlife. In fact, there is a small town near Amiens called Villers-Bretonneux where many things Australian were present thanks to the diggers’ effort in the First World War. Flags, pictures of Australian wildlife and even a few street names were Australian.

Villers-Bretonneux Town Hall. It has been almost four months since arriving in Europe on January. Time has gone by so fast, yet there’s still many things to see and experience.
