Pre-semester travels through Europe: Austria

For the last two weeks I have been backpacking through Austria. And it has been amazing!

The major cultural differences between Austrians and Australians include the ability to consume alcohol and Weiner schnitzel simultaneously, and a love of all things Mozart.

The depth of culture in cities like Vienna and Salzburg is also remarkable. Many of their churches, architecture, music and art reflect methods developed centuries ago during the Holy Roman Empire and the Habsburg dynasty of the 15th Century. Significant cultural figures including Mozart, Haydn, Ferdinand Porsche, Arnold Schwarzenegger (yes, Arnie), and Felix Baumgartner have also shaped music, arts and literature in fantastic ways.
